Deborah Pegg (nee Scragg), Solicitor at Astle Paterson, comes from a background in the media industry (having worked in P.R., television production and post-production).  

Deborah was voted ‘Best Supporting Lawyer” by The Times newspaper in 2011 for her legal services in connection with the film, “We Need To Talk About Kevin” – and is a member of London’s prestigious Reform Club (appearing as a guest speaker for The Production Guild.)

Deborah’s Film and TV expertise is wide-ranging and includes underlying rights (i.e. Film & TV Options and Assignments), development deals, production agreements (cast and crew contracts, licences, releases), distribution and sales agency agreements, content library acquisitions and Film and TV finance (banking, equity investment, EIS and UK Film Tax credit deals).

Having begun her legal career at a major London Media Firm, Deborah later worked for a well-known media investment group (which was the executive producer of over 100 feature films, including “Avatar”, “X-Men: First Class”, “Wolverine”, “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” and “Life of Pi” as well as live events such as “Rewind”) and also for an independent Film and Television Production Company.

Deborah’s experience includes acting for numerous Film and TV producers, banks and equity financiers in relation to the production and financing of a wide variety of film and television projects (for example “Mr Nice” starring Rhys Ifans, the Golden Globe, BAFTA and Palme d'Or nominated “We Need To Talk About Kevin” (starring Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly), “Dread”, “Boogie Woogie”, “Beyond The Sea” (Kevin Spacey) and “Cracks” (Eva Green, Juno Temple), “New Tricks”, “Skins”, “Kingdom” (Stephen Fry) and “Wild At Heart”).
